OF ALL ROCK N ROLL ( And Of Course Indie / Alternative Rock ) MUSIC !! EVER ! "We had just recorded some of our greatest shit with producer Andrew Houston down in Harbor City California November December January 1991 ,.. but I felt that Studio Sound there just didn't have enough of something ,.. although the songs were amazing Great; Ben Is Dead, Star , Hey Negrita, 22nd Street, were literally all recorded in one amazing day session ! And I will never forget it,.. We were writing these huge anthems,.. "Hey ,.. I love God's Joke just like anybody ,.. ,... but I thought that My lyrics were making too much sense,.. I was trying to be funny ,..ya know,..that punk rock sense of humor thang,.. "Manipulation" Was Dreamed up one night at 251 Paseo De Gracia Redondo Beach CA ,.. about the Same Night as "White Black Thang" and I remember that these two songs were like nothing that I had ever heard before ,.. both in my head ,..or otherwise,.. I just "Knew" that I had to record these two tracks ,..and we went in and did them,..at this totally different studio ,.. down in El Segundo Ca in February 1991 ,.. they were using this 1970's Trident recorder console there ,.. and the producer there this guy ,.. Wild Bill Krodel was just getting amazing sounds for bands ,.. and I remember when he heard these two songs by us, he was simply floored , blown away at what he was hearing and I was like "Oh man ,.. yer jus' sayin' that bro,.. because we're like all dudes here" LOL "Manipulation" powers it's way along quick ,.. a short, swift little rocker, ..packed with a deviously clever melody ,..maybe borrowed a bit too much from The Four Seasons 1964 Hit " Save it For Me" As Hagins was this massive FS Fan since childhood !! The pounding heavy drumming from Haggins and the catchy flamboyant punk rock guitars fuse together with a tight catchy melody CANDY !! ,.. and way back in 1991, Hagins was certain sure this track would be G.e's newest "Hit" Single ,... "But then I heard "White Black" Says Hagins,...
